BIOGRAPHY
Dana is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and obtained a Master of Social Work from Howard University. She has been in the field for nearly twenty years enjoys working with teens, adults, families, and couples in a wide range of ages Dana also has training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), strength-based approaches, areas of interest include anxiety, depression, trauma, transitions, and adjustments, parenting skills, and family communication. Under the umbrella of a family-systems based approach, modalities used in treatment may include Individual Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy –(CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She helps patients develop coping strategies for stress management and relaxation. Dana has many years of experience in outpatient therapy, and community mental health. Through these experiences, she has worked with many populations from various walks of life. Everyone’s journey is unique.

People often struggle to cope with big life changes, so transitional coaches are the perfect go-to for putting things in perspective and helping YOU to make those big life changes as enjoyable as possible. Ultimately, working with clients to understand their needs and support them as they work to build a more fulfilling life for themselves. Dana will teach useful emotional and behavioral regulation techniques and collaborate with clients to develop action plans that center on the actualization of their stated ambitions. Together we will evaluate clients’ advancement toward goal actualization to encourage continued and sustainable progress.

BIOGRAPHY
I have an extremely diverse background in working with adults, children, and families. I have 7 years of experience providing psychotherapy and mentoring services for youth age populations in the DMV area. I also have experience working in the crisis response field working as a Clinical Supervisor for the DC Department of Behavioral Health Community Response Team. I also have experience in providing psychotherapy for patients experiencing schizophrenia/psychosis with The Assertive Community Treatment team in Washington DC with MBI. I was raised in Norfolk,Virginia and have a team based approach with mental health due to my past as a college football player . I graduated with a masters in Social Work from the VCU school of Social work, a top 15 nationally ranked Graduate program.
I provide individual therapy for adults, children, and adolescents. When working with children and adolescents, I use a collaborative approach with the whole family system. My clinical areas of specialization and interests include, but are not limited to ADHD, psychosis, adoption, depression, self-esteem, anxiety, and grief and loss. I specialize in Trauma focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, DBT, and Family Systems based frameworks in my practice. I welcome everyone from all backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, and faiths. I reward adolescent age engagement in therapy sessions with play therapy sessions (basketball, football, even game based sessions).
